Transport
When choosing transport you should choose something that is in
keeping with the style of the wedding. Ideas may include travelling
on your own horse, or making the trip on a tractor if you are
a country girl, or it may be to arrive by boat to a lakeside venue
if budget permits.
However If the transport you choose is out of ordinary you will
need to check that they can accommodate it at your chosen venue.
You also need to weigh up dreams versus practicality.
The most typical and popular choice of transport for weddings
is Chauffeur driven cars. There are lots of choices when it comes
to cars, however practicality must be considered. For example
although stylish, a low sports car isn’t the best option if you
have a traditional wedding gown as it will cause the dress to
look crumpled and creased.
The best option is to have a roomy car and vintage cars such
as the Rolls Royce and Daimlers tend to be a popular choice. For
themed weddings Cadillac’s and Limos may also be the perfect option.
You will also need to confirm that the driver knows the exact
locations of both the ceremony venue and the reception venue.
It is also a good idea to ask about the company breakdown policy,
and whether they have a back up vehicle in case of breakdowns.
Also make sure you confirm what fees are covering for example
whether the quotation you are given is per mile, per hour, or
per day. Make sure you get all of this information in writing.
The
Open Horse Drawn Carriage is still another popular choice, and
is a truly romantic idea, which will look fantastic on photographs
and when pulling up to the venue.
Before the ceremony you need to think about travel arrangements
to your chosen venue. Traditionally three cars are used, one for
the Bride and her father or person giving her away, one for the
Bridesmaids, mother of bride and attendants, and a third car for
the Bridegroom and Best Man. If the venue is not very far then
you may want to reduce your budget by hiring just one car that
can do multiple trips, however this will depend on distance and
time.
After the ceremony the Bride and Bridegroom travel together in
the wedding car, whilst other members of the Bridal party use
less formal means of transport. It is the Best Mans job to ensure
all transport is correct, and everybody has means of transport
on the day. If problems occur then it is important to sort them
before the big day. If the venue is in an isolated location then
it may be a good idea to provide minibuses, or a coach or to prearrange
lifts for guests to make sure nobody gets left behind. You may
also need to pre-book taxis for guests not staying at the venue
overnight.
It is tradition for the bridal party to decorate the wedding
car. If this concerns you ask your best man to supervise the decoration
of car in case gets out of hand. If you are concerned that guests
might go a little crazy with decorations and pranks, then it may
be wise to arrange a separate going away car so that there are
no problems or delays when travelling to your chosen honeymoon
destination.
Weddings-With-Style Tips:
If you feel like keeping with old tradition, then why not be
romantic and walk to the church if it is not too far away – but
remember this is only a good idea if it is dry on the day!
