Honeymoon
As soon as you have set a date for your wedding, the next step
is to go to your local travel agents or search on the internet
for that perfect holiday destination to go alongside your perfect
wedding!
It is tradition for the Bridegroom to arrange the honeymoon destination
in secret and reveal to the Bride on the wedding day, however
nowadays more couples are deciding to choose a destination together.
You probably have some idea on the type of honeymoon you want,
and should definitely follow your dreams as it is a once in a
lifetime trip, however don’t be afraid to look at all the options
before making your final choices.
It needs to be a destination that will be memorable, and should
include the interests of you both. Whether this is a busy or a
quiet holiday, the U.K. or abroad, an exotic sun holiday, snowboarding
in the French Alps, walking in the peak district, an activity
holiday or a historical city break, it needs to be a romantic
trip that will start your new life together in style.
It is nice to have at least two weeks together, and some travel
agents do special offers so check out what is available. If you
are unable to take that much time out of your daily lives then
why not arrange for a mini break so you can at least take a short
time out and spend it with each other before going back to normal
everyday routine.
Lots of companies offer special deals for honeymooners, so it
is a great idea to mention you are going to be newlyweds when
booking. Airports often offer upgrades to first class and lots
of hotels will add complimentary touches such as a bottle of champagne,
chocolates and flowers in your room on arrival.
Once the final decision is made, it is important to get confirmation
in writing and to sort any relevant documents so that they are
ready at least two weeks before you depart, and there is no last
minute panic or stress.
Check passports and also find out about any visas and inoculations
you may need well in advance. If you are thinking about hiring
a car for your holiday then you will also need to check the documentation
required for this. Your tour operator should be able to advise
you about these.
Remember to include spending money for your honeymoon within
your budget, and remember to change it to the correct currency
and order travellers cheques well in advance.
It
is a good option to take out travel insurance as this will cover
medical expenses, loss of money, loss and damage to luggage, and
cancellation of holiday and flights. Always read the small print,
and check exactly what is covered as some extreme sports are not
covered within the basic premiums.
Whatever you choose it should be the romantic destination you
have dreamed of since the day you decided to marry, and should
be a place that will always hold fond memories as it will be the
place you began your married lives together.
Weddings-With-Style Tips:
If you are having an exotic honeymoon abroad and are on a long
haul flight, don’t forget to stretch your legs regularly and drink
plenty of water.
